Updated Registration Form

I have updated the registration form for summer school. It is under documents. Summer School will be at Harrison. With conferences coming up, that is a great time to get parent signatures. Please consider the following items when referring students for summer school:

  1. We don't have a behavior para. We don't have support for extreme behaviors. If a student is going to be an extreme disruption to the learning environment, summer school is probably not the best option. If a student has been a significant disruption in your classroom due to behaviors, then they will probably act the same way at summer school.
  2. We don't have resource teachers during summer school. It is ok for students on an IEP to attend summer school. However, if they are significantly below grade level- 4 weeks of summer school is probably not the best option. If they are not in your classroom for most of the day, then summer school is probably not the best option. We have several students on IEP's who are close to grade level, and they are excellent candidates for summer school.

When filling out the registration form please include:

  1. If there is a custody situation with legal documents at school in the office, please write that on the form. Even better to send a copy of the legal documents with the registration paper.
  2. If there are allergies or other medical concerns, please write that on the registration paper.
  3. If the student has been in the country less than one year, please write that on the registration paper. Those students often attend the refugee center summer school, so we can check on that. We also want to assist them with busing if they are going to attend our summer school- before summer school, instead of after summer school has already started.
  4. Please write anything helpful that you would appreciate receiving if you were the summer school teacher for the student. There might be something you have been working really hard on, like number reversals, and the summer school teacher can continue to work on that.
