The intervention kits, the red kits, for Math and Language Arts have been taken out of storage. Some might not want to look at them until later in the summer. That is fine. You can stop by Harrison any time during the summer and the custodians can help you find them. If you would like the kits sooner please email me. I can send them via district mail, or we can set something up for you to pick them up at either Harrison or Sawtooth.

Wednesday May 15th, 2013

Some have emailed asking about the May 15th deadline for registration forms. I know you are still trying to get signatures and forms returned. It is fine to send them in over the next few days. The goal is to not have forms turned in during the month of June.

Wednesday May 1st, 2013

IRI and ISAT testing are almost finished, May has arrived, we are in the last month of school, and summer school registration forms are being filled out. It's that time of year. :)

I've had a few emails about meals. Breakfast and lunch are both free for every student during summer school.

Please continue to work with your grade level teams as you decide who to refer for summer school, and then send in registration forms.

April 13th, 2013

This post will answer some questions that people have emailed.

The goal is the have registration forms turned in by May 15th. I know IRI and ISAT testing is still occuring, so waiting for scores is perfectly fine. Last year I was still receiving forms the beginning of June. I'd love to avoid that this year if possible.

Forms can be sent to Harrison or Sawtooth. They will get to me at both places, so doesn't matter which school you send the forms to.

Please try to fill out the registration forms as best as you can. Imagine you were the summer school teacher receiving your student. What would you like to know, such as specific items to work on during summer school.

There will be a bus for summer school. The route/stops won't be known until late May, after the majority of registration forms have been received. The route/stops will be set up to best serve where the needs are.

A letter will be sent to all students and their families in June, as a reminder of summer school. We will also use the automated phone call system and texting to help remind students and their families. The phone call and texting information will be in the June letter.

I've set up the texting if you are a teacher/para for summer school and want to see the same reminders that students and their families will receive during the summer:

208-881-5049, then in the message type: @sumschool

Please email me if you have any other questions.

Writing

We're transitioning to the CCSS. One area of focus is writing. I have ordered one book per grade level as an additional resource to help address this area during summer school. You can see sample pages for each grade level when you click on the links.

Dr. Dobbs letter

I added an updated summer school letter from Dr. Dobbs to documents. The letter might be helpful when meeting with families, particularly during conferences. If you are not familiar with google docs, here are the directions for printing: file, then download, and then it should open into a printable document.
