Today is the last day of summer school. Have a great rest of the summer with your friends and family! Thank you for giving part of your summer to assist students with their learning!
Last recess will be from 1:45-2:15. Any extra help with recess, back bus duty, and front after school duty would be great.
Please remember to put report card copies on the back counter in the office. Bring all your
reusable school supplies, and any other items
borrowed, to the front office.

It wouldn't hurt to review playground and lunch expectations. We may have 7 schools, but we all have similar rules and expectations. With a full moon coming, this would be really helpful as we go through two more days of summer school.

A big thank you to everybody who helped with sno-cones and Friday fun supervision!
Please bring time cards to the office by Tuesday.
Fourth grade will be going on a walking field trip to the Times News Monday morning.
We have a reminder letter to families already copied for you in the office. The front side reminds families that Thursday is the last day of summer school. The back side has all the back to school information about open house dates, when each school office opens, and the school websites. Please stop by the office and pick up how ever many copies you need for your classroom. Here is the back side:
Back Family Note
There are no attendance tickets, prizes, or recess treats this week.
Here is a quick list of closing items as you finish the week:
1. Any school supplies that can be reused next year, please bring to the office. Try to find a place in my office. Any items you borrowed from us in the office, please return them as well.
2. Please put back any Investigations Math or Wonders Reading curriculum materials that you borrowed.
3. Please put the school copy of each student's report card in the correct pile on the back counter in the office, and we'll help you alphabetize by grade level. We can help you look up the home school if you aren't sure. One copy of the report card also needs to go home with each student. If a student isn't at school on Thursday, simply fold and address to the parent/guardian of the student. We can then send them on to the home school to give to the student. Please make sure there are comments on the report cards.
4. Please check the staff refrigerators for any food that might be yours.
5. Last recess on Thursday will be from 1:45-2:15. That gives you a chance to print any last minute report cards. Please also return any playground equipment to the blue tubs.
6. The goal is to leave the classrooms so that the regular classroom teacher walks in and doesn't notice we were even there. Please let me know if we need to replace or fix anything.

Well, the sidewalk chalk is not going to work for Friday Fun this summer at Lincoln. We've tried to pick up every piece, but the community finds the littlest pieces after school is out and draws the most accurate inappropriate pictures and words. So sad. We've never had that problem before. However, there are no failures. There are just back up plans. I found some fun items on Amazon instead. Balls, discs, and more for Friday Fun!

Blue is the color for attendance prize tickets this week. We have them cut and ready for you to pick up in the office. We have a few more school supplies if you need anything.
A big thank you to Mr. Garcia for picking up popsicles and school supplies at Fred Meyer on Friday! A big thank you to everybody who assisted with Friday Fun and supervision on the playground! A big thank you to everybody who assisted with pre-testing students as well! We are on to the intensive interventions, which is what summer school is all about.
I love this article:
Dedication to Learning
Here is a chart with a few ideas for sentence starters and questions that address reflective listening, disagreeing respectfully, asking clarifying questions, and for expressing ideas. These are all great to review during summer school. Speaking and listening skills are important for every grade level and every student. It doesn't matter what career a student will have.

We will start Friday fun at 1:15. Please make sure your grade level has divided the time so we have adequate coverage on the playground. We will have popsicles out in the grass in a shady spot under a tree. Have students look for Mr. Garcia. Please remind students about patience, and to use the garbage cans. Everybody will get a popsicle.
We will have chalk for students, and please remind students about only drawing on the ground. Friday fun is a great opportunity to walk around and visit with students. PM Back: Osterman
The time for Friday Fun will be 1:15-2:15. Each grade divides amongst themselves, about 15 minutes for each person, so we have adequate coverage on the playground. This also gives you time to prepare and plan for next week. We will have popsicles for students as well.
To help improve the lunch line speed, we are going to have two serving lines on both sides of the table. Most items are already in the lunch bags. The items not inside the bags are the hot items. After checking with food services, teachers can help pass out the hot items to students. Those two strategies, two serving lines and staff assisting with passing out items, should help the lunch line move more quickly.
Please remind students that when they are finished eating in the lunchroom, they need to put all their garbage in the garbage cans.

I walked into Ms. Owens' preschool classroom after lunch. Students were practicing cutting skills at the tables. I looked over and there were two students sound asleep on the carpeted floor. Students should have slept really well for their families Tuesday night.

First day for staff is Monday!
We'll start in the library with a short staff meeting, at 8:30 am. Bring something to write with, or a device, to take notes. Dress is casual for Monday. For the rest of the summer, professional but cool is the goal for clothing. Half of the building is cooler than the other side, so please also bring water. We'll be encouraging students to bring water, or a water bottle, as well.
Please double check schedules, as a few needed to be updated. Summer school will be hot, and it will be cozy at Lincoln. Some rooms were changed so we could add in two Preschool classrooms and one more Kindergarten classroom.
Supplies requested are in your rooms as well.
